6 Weeks of Bliss: Challenge 2

This week’s Bliss Challenge was to “Submit a memorable vacation photo OR a place you’re dying to visit in this discussion to help us mentally escape the holiday madness! Include a traveling tip, trick or great memory.”

Well, right about now I would give anything to get out to New York City. I have not spent a December in Manhattan in four years and I miss it like crazy. True, when I was living there I did nothing but complain about all of the tourists flocking to the Big Apple to check out the Christmas decorations, but I miss the lights and the smell of roasting chestnuts and the Union Square Christmas market and all of those good things that I took for granted. The photo above clearly wasn’t taken at Christmas time, but it’s proof that wonderful things happen in that city.

As far as traveling tips go, if you’re a fancy lady (like myself), I recommend checking out the Travel Size Products section of Sephora’s website. I’m often paranoid about getting to the airport and discovering that one of my nicer cosmetic products is larger than 3 oz., so this is a nice way to make sure that you have a travel sized portion of your beauty staples. If you don’t want to dish out any extra dough for a travel size though, the next time you make a full size purchase I recommend asking your salesperson if they had a sample size or two that they could throw in.

6 Weeks of Bliss Challenge #1: Celebrating our Blogs & Those Who Inspire Us

Bliss.com is hosting a six-week challenge to help generate a community of wellness and lifestyle bloggers, and their first challenge is for bloggers to write about why they started blogging and who inspires them. My Two Weeks Notice was started as I quit my 9-5 administrative job to venture into the world of arts education. It was a site where I could muse about the transition from office drone to teaching “artiste”, and write about cooking, shopping, frugality, and all the other good things that come along with a major life change. As I’ve gotten busier it’s been trickier to keep up with the blog, but it’s still lovely to have someplace where I could post about vegan eating challenges, dressing for Chicago winters, and Frankie Valli ice skating videos.

As far as who inspires me, I’ll just include a quick little blogroll of awesome folk, for your consideration.

My official reason for not blogging much recently is that I’m busy preparing my graduate school applications but I know that’s a load of nonsense. I am diligently working on my applications, but somehow I also manage to find time to look at Downton Abbey disco photo shoots or watch Marcel the Shell With Shoes On 2 on repeat. Last night I spent a good half-hour watching YouTube videos of Josh Groban. This has to stop. Please hold me accountable for my behavior, and if you ever hear me mention how I’m slacking on my applications, bring this post up and shame me for it.
